The Toddler - The Only Child

Only children have the benefit of their parent’s individual care and attention.  They learn lots as mum and dad have more time to devote to teaching them. Their homes are quieter and more peaceful, as bickering over toys and possessions do not occur. They don’t have to fight for their parent’s attention either.

On the other hand only children can be lonely and bored. They may find it harder to settle with other children. Only children can find it difficult to argue with others, as they don’t have siblings to “practice” this with.

To get only children used to mixing with other children; invite over extended family, friends or neighbours children. Enrol them in a nursery or playgroup. Visit mums and tots groups, soft play centres or toddler classes, anywhere to get them mixing with other kids.
